ANYTIME Neil Finn plays in Australia, there is a cast iron guarantee it is going to be special.
Bringing his good mate Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder on for the encore of his Max Sessions taping on Wednesday night, was very, very special.
An intimate crowd of diehard Finn fans howled when he brought Vedder, who watched several songs from the crowd with his wife Jill and friends, onto the stage at the Seymour Centre in Sydney.

Both strapped on acoustic guitars for a harmony-laden rendition of the Hunters and Collectors anthem Throw Your Arms Around Me.
They set up the next song with Vedder revealing he skipped graduate school for a musical education and Split Enz records were among those which would ultimately influence his own career.
Finn’s band, which includes his wife Sharon on bass, then returned to the stage to rip into History Never Repeats.

The crowd lucked out when Finn decided to do another take of the song. You can do that when you are taping a television show.
The Foxtel concert was a warm up for his new band as he prepares to release his new solo record Dizzy Heights on February 7.
They introduced several new songs and ran through his career from Message to My Girl and I Got You to Crowded House gold-plated favourites Fall At Your Feet, Weather With You and Distant Sun.
The concert will air on Foxtel’s Max on March 24.
His Australian tour kicks off at the Nambour Civic Centre on March 6 and finishes at the Sydney Opera House on March 22.
